Known affectionately as “Old Boz,” Nathaniel Kimbell Boswell settled in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1867 to run the town’s first drug store as a way to unsaddle himself of a lot of drugs he had acquired in a trade. During his time as proprietor of the shop, Boswell built his reputation as a skilled criminal catcher. He sold out of stock in 1871 and closed the drug store to pursue his career in law enforcement. Upon relocating to the rough, territorial town of Laramie, Wyoming, Boswell engaged in vigilante law enforcement until he was given the role of Albany County’s first sheriff – a job that carried a hefty geographical area with it at the time. To catch Jack Watkins in Laramie County, Boswell was named United States deputy marshal. From that point forward, Boswell was renowned for his fearless nature and tough skin.
Collection contains a souvenir titled The Art of the World, World’s Columbian Exposition, parts 7, 9, 11, 12, 18, 19, and 26 and a leather bound kit titled Bible Study in Topical Form.
