Historical Note

Harold F. Loomis (1890-1970) served in the artillery in France during WWI and in Europe, Africa, and the Mid-East during WWII. He retired from service in 1946 as chief of the budget and fiscal section headquarters division of the Army Ground Forces. Loomis was a recipient of the Distinguished Service Medal, the Bronze Star, and the French Legion of Honor.

Collection contains correspondence; commendations, citations, and medals; newspaper clippings, books concerning the military such as the U.S. Army Special Orders Book and a booklet about WWII; and photographs of Loomis and other military officers.
