The Office of the Registrar at Washington State Normal School (currently Central Washington University) was established in 1917. Prior to that date, the secretary to the school principal and the school recorder managed student records.
The grade books in this collection were maintained by Washington State Normal School faculty, 1892-1917. The books were collected by the school principal for review at the end of each term.
Central Washington University began as the Washington State Normal School in 1891. In 1937, the school was rechristened the Central Washington College of Education. In 1961, the school became Central Washington State College and, finally, in 1977, Central Washington University.
