In 2010, the Archives and Special Collections arranged these photographs into an artificial collection based on physical format (panorama). Prior to that time, several of the images in this collection were once part of the Archives general photograph collection. In 2024, the finding aid was written and new, collection-specific photograph numbers were assigned. Information about legacy photograph numbers assigned by the Archives was maintained. Panoramic images from photographers with existing collections, such as the R.H. McKay Photographs and the Morton J. Elrod Papers, were processed into those individual collections.
