			<p>Esther Warkov is an activist, author, and music researcher. Warkov earned a bachelor's degree in music from the University of California, a master's degree in music from the University of Wales, and a doctorate in ethnomusicology from Israel with a specialty in Middle Eastern music. She is the Executive Director, and Co-Founder of Stop Sexual Assault in Schools.</p>

			<p>This collection originally consisted of 100 reels which were copies of the collector's audio cassette originals; reels 1-63 were copies of her numbered cassettes, but 64-100 did not have Warkov numbers. The collector deposited the 34 original numbered audio cassettes (and one original reel) in 2013; these cassettes and the remaining 36 tape reels (64-100) were digitized in 2013 and all 100 reels then de-acquisitioned.</p>
			<p>Logsheets for tapes 1-34 have been completed; see original archive sheets for digital files numbered 35-58 and typed notes for files numbered 59-70.</p>
			<p>Geographic/cultural areas: Iraq and Israel, Egyptian style (1930s); includes Iraqi-Jewish musicians.</p>
			<p>Languages included: Arabic and Hebrew.</p>
			<p>Performers include: Avraham Salman, Albert Elias, Sasson 'Abdu, Salah al-Kuwaiti, Da'ud al-Kuwaiti, Ezra Aharon, Khaduri Bassun, Haskel Qassab, Salim Shibbith, Yaqub al-'Amari, Salima Morad, Zakiyyah George, Yusuf Za'arour, Milu Hamamah, Yusuf Pettau, Zaki Fahami, Tzion Ibrahim, Haskel Shoul, Mounira Hawazwaz, Salah Baqal, Hussein Abdallah.</p>
			<p>Related collection - 2006027: Examples accompanying Ph.D. dissertation of Esther Warkov (Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1987); recordings collected 1980-81 but span several decades ca. 1930-1980.</p>
