Robert Percival Porter was a journalist and economist. Born in England, he immigrated to the United States for his health. He began his journalism career in 1872 with the Chicago “Inter-Ocean”. He founded the “New York Press” with Frank Hatton in 1887. Porter became an expert in commerce and industry and traveled throughout the world conducting industrial investigations.
The collection contains writings of Robert P. Porter, primarily in the form of scrapbooks of newspaper clippings. Also included are biographical files, photographs, and books.
