The Lambda Delta Sigma records (1935-1947) consists of meeting minutes and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (L.D.S) Institute record notes. The sorority was founded in 1937 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Institute located at the University of Utah.

In 1936 Lowell Bennion, the director of the institute of religion at the University of Utah, participated in the founding of a fraternity that would be directly tied to the institute program. On 22 January 1937 a sorority was also organized at the University of Utah. The fraternity and sorority were both named Lambda Delta Sigma, with separate chapters for men and women.
