      <head>Biographical Note</head>
      <p>Alice Chandler was born in Theft River Falls, Minnesota on October 24,
		  1896. She grew up in Bemidji and Crookston, Minnesota and received her degree
		  in English from the University of Minnesota about 1920. Alice taught high
		  school in Toppenish and Wenatchee, Washington; she was also one of the original
		  Foster "Girls" from Foster Travel Service from about 1924 to 1930. Alice met
		  her husband in Yellowstone Park in 1926 and was married in 1931. Alice Chandler
		  passed away on December 7, 1976 in San Francisco, California.</p>

      <p>Photographs in this collection are of various sites in and around
		  Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. Also included are miscellaneous
		  photographs of the Wyoming prairie and mountains, the Badlands of North Dakota,
		  and a round-up in Pendelton, Oregon. All photographs in this collection are
		  dated 1926.</p>
