         <p>Mary Collins was an author of mystery novels. "She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, her family moved to Berkeley, California when she was three years old. She attended public schools in Berkeley, Miss Burke's School in San Francisco, and—briefly—the University of California. </p>
         <p>From 1941 to 1949, she published six mystery novels, all set in California." </p>

         <p>The collection contains correspondence, contracts, manuscripts, notes, and scrapbooks, 1941-1953.</p>
         <p>Correspondence is primarily with agents. There are folders of correspondence arranged by date and also by correspondent's name or title. Names and titles include Margot Johnson of A. S. Lyons, Inc. and Ann Watkins Inc.</p>
         <p>Among the correspondence are seven letters from Gertrude Atherton, 1943 to 1947.</p>
         <p>Scrapbooks contain clippings, reviews, photographs, and articles about Collins. </p>
         <p>There are manuscripts for the titles Dog Eat Dog and Death Warmed Over. </p>
         <p>Also available are contracts, agreements, and notes. </p>
