<head>Biography of Andrew Springs Gillespie</head><p>A. S. “Bud” Gillespie was an Albany County, Wyoming, rancher and co-author with R. H. Burns and Willing G. Richardson of the book <title>Wyoming’s Pioneer Ranches</title>, which was published in 1955. Gillespie was born in 1887, the son of Samuel W. and Maggie H. (White) Gillespie. Bud Gillespie worked as a cowboy for the Swan Land and Cattle Company and gained fame as a rodeo performer during the early 1900s. He took over operation of the Gillespie ranch on the Laramie River in 1914 and bought the former Taylor ranch on Rock Creek in 1922. After his retirement he moved to Laramie, Wyoming, and became an authority and writer on the history of Albany County.</p>

<p>The American Heritage Center aspires to approach all areas of our work in ways that are
respectful to those who create, use, and are represented in our collections. For a variety of
reasons, however, users may encounter offensive or harmful language or images in some of our

<p>Note that the AHC does not censor or alter contents of the collections as they provide context and evidence of a time, people, place, or event.
Therefore, we encourage users to bring questions and concerns about descriptions in our finding aids to our attention via <extref href="mailto:bblasi@uwyo.edu">email</extref> or <extref href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd7UKY6227Uluu6mYZv-63VA_hQSNd7kgRhsaLC-UD2NOB9cg/viewform">anonymous web-form</extref>.
