The journal Western Veterinarian first appeared in 1953 as the Cougar Veterinary Yearbook, and changed its title in 1955, with volume two. The journal was written by the Washington State University Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association and published by the WSU College of Veterinary Medicine. There was a large gap in publication from 1965 through 1971, and completely ceased publication in 1980.

Office files and correspondence related to the publication of the journal Western Veterinarian by the Washington State University Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the WSU College of Veterinary Medicine. The files of range from 1975 to 1980, with most dating from 1977 to 1979.

The files are in their original order, arranged by the journal staff, under a coded classification scheme.
