         <p>This collection contains records for the Washington State Republican Party from 1980 to 1997. The collection consist of meeting minutes from 1981 to 1996, voter lists, records, statistics, surveys, and focus group data, as well as papers concerning Washington State Republican Conventions, state committees, the executive board, campaign information, files on prospective candidates, crime, environment, budget talking points, health care reform, the "drug war," legislative fundraisers, the AFL, the CIO, the "Legislative Victory Fund," the Washington State legislature, and various projects. The collection also contains financial records, "Daily Report" sheets from 1992 to 1995, press releases and newspaper clippings pertaining to the organization, incoming and outgoing correspondence, party affiliate memoranda, membership directories, Washington State and National Republican platforms, and opposition analysis and files. Additionally, the collection includes "Republican Almanacs"; audiocassette recordings of forums; several handbooks pertaining to the Republican Party and its projects; other printed material including newspapers and books; video recordings, photographs; and realia.</p>

         <p>"The Washington State Republican Party is dedicated to preserving a constitutional republic. We believe that active participation by citizens is absolutely necessary to protect and preserve conservative values which include preserving a free society, free markets, free trade, the sanctity of human life, limited government, low taxes, a minimal bureaucracy, a strong national defense, private property rights, and the concept that government should do for individuals only those things they cannot do for themselves."</p>
