        Wash., businessman and stockman, who developed it into one of the region's largest stock
        auction houses. Scrapbooks (1914-1947) containing livestock market quotations, clippings,
        photos, and ephemera; and correspondence (1915-1917) relating to railroad freight rates on
        purebred livestock shipments.</abstract>

      <head>Historical Note</head>
      <p>In 1930 F.M. Rothrock, a Spokane businessman and stockman, acquired the Old Union
        Stockyards. It is one of the region’s largest stock auction houses.</p>

      <p>The collection consists of seven volumes of scrapbooks, 1914-1947, that contain livestock
        market quotations, clippings, photographs, and ephemeral items. There is also a file of
        correspondence, 1915-1917, relating to favorable railroad freight rates on purebred
        livestock shipments.</p>
