         <p>When these letters were collected in 1929, Walter R. May was editor of the morning edition of The Oregonian.</p>

         <p>The Walter R. May letter collection consists of ten letters written to May in 1929. May wrote to a number of national leaders to ask what advice they would give to young people about to graduate. The letters include replies from a labor leader; the president of U.S. Steel; the president of American Telephone and Telegraph; and Herbert Hoover, President of the United States, among others.</p>
