Historical Note
Dollie Radler Hall was acting chief geologist for Amerada Petroleum Corp. in 1927, at a time when few women had entered the profession. She earned a master’s degree in geology from the University of Oklahoma in 1921 and joined Amerada as an assistant geologist. Although she became acting chief geologist a few years later, she resigned the position in the early 1930s to become a division geologist in charge of the northern U.S. In 1950 she retired from Amerada and started a consulting business, working largely in Cuba.
