The Research Committee was established in 1948 and was called the College Committee on Research until 1960. The committee serves as an advisory body to the university president on research programs and policies, studies the problems and opportunities involved in research, and advises the president regarding the fields in which adequate research activities should be initiated or expanded. It also serves as a clearinghouse for efforts to secure research funds and grants-in-aid from outside sources and administers special research grants.
