Dr. Blumenthal's saga tells of living in Riga, Latvia, where she was born in 1899. The family moved to Leipsig in 1905. She describes her father's fur business and of living in Germany during WWI. Her education, as she reports it, was superb. She tells of her career as a writer and lecturer in all the German Broadcasting systems, and of the cataclysmic stopping of everything in 1933, when Hilter rose to power. She reports the loss of her Rockerfeller scholarship and how Hitler's rise affected professionals.
