			<p>Harold Balazs (1928-2017) was born in Ohio, and moved with his family to Spokane
				after graduating from high school. He graduated from Washington State College in
				1951. He began his career as an artist designing and creating costume jewelry. He
				was a prolific painter and sculptor who produced hundreds of works of art for public
				buildings and spaces. </p>

			<p>This collection consists of papers of artist Harold Balazs, received in multiple
				installments. </p>
			<p>Preliminary inventory: </p>
			<p>MS-2000-09 (2 boxes): This accession consists of materials about Harold Balazs,
				collected and created by Gervais Reed circa 1988 and given to Balazs. </p>
			<p>Box 1: Correspondence, photographs, notes, draft sections, and other materials
				related to Reed's essay, "Harold Balazs: An Introduction." Includes a life and
				career chronology for Balazs, 1928-1993. </p>
			<p>Box 2: Photographs (color slides) of Balazs works (3 cases), and chronological file
				of index cards documenting events, works, and awards. </p>
			<p>MS-2000-26 (9 boxes): Harold Balazs papers, including correspondence, files related
				to commissions and projects, photographs, and scrapbooks. </p>
			<p>Box 1: Commissions and projects, correspondence (labeled folders). </p>
			<p>Box 2: Commissions and projects (continued), photographs, career information, and
				loose, unsorted papers. </p>
			<p>Box 3: Binders (photographs by Gervais Reed of Balazs works, "catalog," clippings),
				and loose unsorted papers (ephemera, articles about Balazs, small-scale
				reproductions of Balazs works). </p>
			<p>Boxes 4-5: Loose, unsorted material (mainly clippings and pamphlets about Balazs
				works); scrapbook. </p>
			<p>Box 5.1: Drawings, sketches, prints, photographs. </p>
			<p>Box 5.2: Photographs (oversize) of building plans, Balazs works. </p>

				exhibit flyers, news clippings, a coloring book by Balazs, a tablet of his writings,
				and miscellaneous papers. </p>
