      <p>The 3rd World Arts Workshop Festival was held May 13-18, 1974 at Central Washington State College (later Central Washington University) in Ellensburg, WA. A registration card included in this collection lists the following participating artists in residence: Rudolfo Anaya, fiction. Frank Chin, drama and fiction. Victor Hernandez Cruz, poetry. Phil George, art, dance, and poetry. Lawson Inada, poetry. Alex Kuo, poetry, project director. Richard, Lyons, fiction. Neil Parsons, art and painting. Ishmael Reed, fiction and poetry. James Welch, poetry. Al Young, fiction and poetry. On each day there were eleven concurrent workshops in the morning and afternoon, "daily noon happenings," and evening performances, symposia, lectures, and readings.

      <p>The collection consists of eleven 1/2" by 2400 foot open reel magnetic Scotch Brand Video Tapes, Guardsman Series Color Capable Tape. The tapes were recorded in May, 1974, at the 3rd World Arts Workshop Festival. Also included is a registration form and calendar of events. Description of individual items below comes from what is written on the labels, not from actual viewing of the materials. Two tapes lack any description; it is possible that they are blank.

      <p>This is a collection of video tapes recorded at the 3rd World Arts Workshop Festival, held on May 13-18, 1974 at Central Washington State College in Ellensburg, WA. The materials were received by John Guido at Washington State University's Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections (MASC) from Alex Kuo in 1995 or 1996. Mr. Kuo retained audio recordings of the event for his personal collection. The videos were accessioned several years later as MS2001-16. They were processed in January, 2013 by University Archivist Mark O'English.
