      <p>Plains Indian Sign Language was developed by Native Americans to communicate across tribes long before Europeans came to the United States. It was mainly used by the nomadic tribes of the Great Plains. This sign language does not rely on facial expressions, but on hand gestures only. Missionaries used sign language to communicate their message to the Native Americans they sought to convert.</p>

      <p>Two Plains Indian Sign Language cards. One shows the Lord's Prayer in the Indian Sign Language and the other shows "God His Law of Love," which shows the signs for love, mind, strength, spirit and God.</p>
