      <head>Historical Note</head>
      <p>The First Congregational Church at Trent was established in 1889 to minister to the needs
        of the faithful residing in the Spokane Valley. Jonathan Edwards, a prominent clergyman and
        amateur historian served as the first pastor.</p>

      <p>The minute book contains the activities of the organizational meeting, 1889; the
        constitution and by-laws, 1894; and miscellaneous notes, 1894-1895. There is also a clipping
        detailing the removal of a minister, 1915.</p>
