		<bioghist encodinganalog="5450_">
			<p>James Douglas Rutherford McConnell (1915-1988) was an author and language teacher from Kilkenny Ireland. He received his BA from Clare College, University of Cambridge and his MA from the University of Reading. In 1950, he published his first detective novel, Comes the Blind Fury, under the pen name Douglas Rutherford. During his lifetime, he published just over 30 detective novels. He also published books about language learning under his given name, James McConnell.</p>
