Central Washington University Associate Vice President of Faculty Affairs, Michael Jennings Collection 1995-1999 3.5 cubic feet 53 video cassettes in 4 video cassette containers and 1 letter sized document case 120-minute VHS video cassettes, transcripts, and newspaper clippings in fair condition, though some video cassettes have very limited audio capabilities. This collection consists of video cassettes featuring lectures, round table discussions, and debates that focus on Native American history, culture, and governance in the State of Alaska. Michael L. Jennings became Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs at Central Washington University in 2005. He received his Bachelor of Arts (1986) and Master of Education (1987) degrees from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, and his Ph.D. (1995) in Social and Educational Policy Studies from the University of British Columbia. Prior to his arrival at Central, Dr. Jennings served in several positions at the University of Alaska from 1980 to 2005. This included serving as Director of Employee and Labor Relations, Assistant Professor in the School of Education and Native American Studies, and the Director of Alaska Native Studies. Jennings has also authored Native Political Leadership and Higher Education: One University, Two Universes.

This collection consists of video cassettes of experts, politicians, researchers and professors teaching courses, delivering lectures or participating in round table discussions or debates that focus upon Native American history, culture, and governance in the state of Alaska. The majority of video cassettes were recorded at the University of Alaska in Anchorage. The collection was acquired by Michael Jennings, who was the Director of Native American Studies at the University of Alaska from 1997 to 2005. Included in the collection are newspaper clippings related to Native American issues in Alaska from 1997 to 1998, transcripts of audio taped interviews, and biographical information on Dr. Jennings. Sound quality on the vast majority of cassettes is very poor.
