Harry LeRoy Aleson (1899-1972) was a Colorado River boatsman and explorer. He served in WWI and attended Iowa State College for two years, hoping to pursue an engineering degree, however financial pressures forced him to leave. He married Thursa Winona in 1928 and later legally seperated from her in 1940. He would later marry Dorothy Donaldson Keyes in 1962. He first explored the Colorado River in 1939 and soon became an expert river boatman, giving tours to the public. He was asked by a noted Colorado River authority, Otis R. "Dock" Marston, to write comments on Mr. Powell's thesis in 1966 because of his familiarity with the area and its residents.
