         <p>The West Coast Steamship Company was organized in 1946 and was also known as West Coast Trans-Oceanic Steamship Co. The company operated the freighters SS Portland Trader, Oregon Trader, and Columbia Trader. It also managed the Chamberlin Steamship Co. and operated coastal lumber carriers.</p>
