The Northern State Bank was founded by Richard G. Bennett, Harold L. Damiano, J.A. Robideaux, Sr., Manuel Schneidmiller, Parker G. Woodall, and John M. Richards in 1977. The Articles of Incorporation were filed with the state in 1978. In 1977, Northern State Bank was acquired by Washington Trust Bank.
