         <p>Glant was born in Seattle in 1942 and graduated from Lakeside School before attending Stanford University. In 1974, he became President CEO of his family's scrap metal business Pacific Iron &amp; Metal. He has been active in the Anti-Defamation League, the American Jewish Committee, and Young Presidents Organization, as well as writing and teaching about U.S. popular culture.</p>
