			<p>Ronald Charles Faas was born July 1, 1935 in Pilot Township, Iowa. Ron received his
				BS degree from Iowa State College in 1957, and was commissioned a second lieutenant
				in the United States Army Reserve and served two years active duty. Following four
				years as a county extension agent he received an MS degree from Iowa State
				University in 1965. After two years as an area extension agent and five years with
				the Peace Corps in Brazil, Faas earned an MA in 1974 and his PhD in 1977, both from
				Michigan State University. </p>
			<p>Faas joined the Washington State University faculty as an extension economist in
				1976. He co-led several cooperative extension projects and served on numerous
				committees. He retired in 1999, continuing to work as an extension economist
				emeritus. </p>

			<p>This collection consists of papers of Ron C. Faas, Washington State University
				agricultural economist, dated 1978-2000. The materials relate to WSU Extension
				programs. A detailed preliminary inventory is on file at the repository. </p>
			<p>The materials feature program development, delivery, and evaluation of extension
				programs conducted by Ron Faas and his colleagues. These include in-service
				education conducted with extension faculty in Washington and through regional
				projects, as well as workshops conducted directly with local government officials
				and other groups. The materials are organized in five groups: Washington economic,
				fiscal, and social impacts of community growth (CE project 210) including the
				Western Rural Development Center's "Coping with Rapid Growth" project (recognized as
				outstanding extension program by the American and Western Agricultural Economics
				Associations); Faculty Governance; Local Government Education (CE Project 217);
				Economic Development and Community Change (CE Project); and Public Policy
				Education. </p>
