Biography of John H. Hull and the Hull Family

John H. Hull (1818 or 1819-1906) settled near Folsomville, Indiana, in 1836. He married Agnes Phillips in 1840, and twelve children were born to the couple. John Hull enlisted in Company D, 120th Indiana Infantry Regiment, in January, 1864. The 120th Regiment took part in the Atlanta campaign of the Civil War from May 1 to September 8, 1864. From September to November it operated against Hood in northern Alabama and Tennessee, and it was then engaged in the Nashville campaign until December of 1864. In January of 1865 the regiment was moved to Washington, D.C., and then into North Carolina where it participated in the campaign of the Carolinas until the surrender of Joseph Johnston in April, 1865. The regiment was on duty in Raleigh, Charlotte, and Greensboro, North Carolina, for the remainder of the year. John Hull, however, apparently was discharged in the summer of 1865, before the regiment was formally mustered out.

Thomas Jefferson Hull (1848-1927), one of the eight surviving children of John H. and Agnes Hull, married Adeline Cox. The couple had six sons, including J. Fred Hull.
