      <head>Historical Note:</head>
      <p>Edwin Cooke Patton operated a Post Card Studio (the Patton Post Card
		  Company) in conjunction with Patton Brothers Bookstore in Salem. He transferred
		  the business to his lead camera man, Eugene Everett Lavalleur, during World War
		  I, who operated the business as Pacific Photo Company in Salem.</p>

      <p>The Pacific Photo Company Postcards consist of 8 photographic postcards
		  depicting Oregon Agricultural College (OAC) campus scenes and buildings and
		  students at a football game between OAC and the University of Oregon. The
		  postcards show lower campus; the Agriculture Building (now Strand Agriculture
		  Hall), bandstand, and Mines Building (now Batcheller Hall); and OAC students at
		  a football game versus the University of Oregon in Corvallis. One of the
		  postcards of the Mines Building shows the structure near the completion of
		  construction in 1913. One of the images of the football game shows a
		  photographer with a camera on a tripod in the foreground.</p>
      <p>The images are individually number P023:1 through P023:8. They also
		  include original captions and numbers printed by the postcard company (no. 10,
		  37, 42, 54, 63, 73, 115, and 145). One of the images (no. 54; P023:7) was
		  published by the Patton Post Card Company.</p>
