Stewart was a physician in Roseburg, Oregon, during the first half of the 20th century.</abstract>

         <p>Earle Bryan Stewart was born in September 1881 in Mason City, Iowa. He studied medicine in Wisconsin and in Chicago, Illinois. In 1905, he came to Glendale, Oregon, where he and his former roommate Dr. Alvin Sether established a medical practice. In 1908, they moved their practice to Roseburg, Oregon, and gained another partner, Dr. Alvane C. Seely.</p>
         <p>In the 1930s, Stewart successfully lobbied the U.S. Congress to establish a Veterans Administration Hospital in Roseburg. He was an active member of the American Legion and contributed to the Roseburg American Legion baseball program.</p>
         <p>Stewart married Pearl Elizabeth Stuart in 1921. He died in May 1974.</p>

         <p>The collection consists of ledger sheets detailing the financial records of Dr. E. B. Stewart's medical practice in Roseburg, Oregon, and the financial records of medical practices in which Stewart was a partner: Seely, Sether &amp; Stewart; Sether &amp; Stewart; and Stewart &amp; Hess. Ledger entries are arranged either by date or by the name of the client or patient.</p>
