The Rocky Mountain Fuel Company was a land-holding company incorporated in 1910 under the laws of Wyoming. The company owned land which was leased for coal, oil, and gas development in Boulder, Fremont, Garfield, Grand, Gunnison, Huerfano, Las Animas, Park, Routt, and Weld Counties in Colorado. The company also leased its land for agriculture and timbering. Although the company filed for bankruptcy and was ordered to be liquidated in 1946, it was still in liquidation in 1973, when Gerald R. Armstrong took over the presidency.
The Rocky Mountain Fuel Company collection contains maps and blueprints of mines in Colorado. Also included are a set of index cards describing the maps. In addition there are mine profiles, drill logs from properties in Oklahoma, bonds, annual reports from the 1970s, and press clippings about the Rocky Mountain Fuel Company and Gerald R. Armstrong.
