      <head>Historical Note:</head>
      <p>The Association of Latin American Students is an organization of
international students at Oregon State University primarily from Central
and South America, Mexico, and Spain. Their purpose includes promoting
community and cohesiveness among Latin American students at OSU, sharing
Latin American cultures with the OSU and local communities, and assisting
new Latin American students when they arrive at OSU. The organization
sponsored an annual Latin Night that featured a dinner, cultural
performances, and a dance.</p>

      <p>The Association of Latin American Students Records consists of
admininistrative records; scrapbooks; videotapes; and event programs,
posters, and brochures. The administrative records include correspondence,
membership and assistance lists, reports, event planning materials, and
financial records. Three scrapbooks include photographs, programs,
clippings, and ephemera documenting the members and activities of the
organization. The three videotapes are VHS format and are recordings of
the Latin Night event in 1996, 1998 and 1999.</p>
