    <bioghist encodinganalog="545">
      <p>Salmon Oliver Levinson was born on December 29, 1865 in Nobelsville, Indiana. Levinson began practicing law in Chicago, Illinois in 1891. Much of what he is known for is his anti-war opinions. He originated and publicized the outlawry of war movement in the United States. After World War I, Levinson assisted in drafting the Kellogg-Briand Pact (Pact of Paris) on 1928. In a legal sense, it outlawed war.

At the University of Idaho, the William Edgar Borah Outlawry of War Foundation was established in 1929 by a grant from Levinson. The administration of the foundation was entrusted by the Board of Regents of the university to a faculty committee known as the Borah Committee. Levinson died on February 2, 1941.</p>
