		  Pheasant Cafe in Portland, Or., a Chinese restaurant, circa 1930-1934. Ledgers
		  contain brush-written entries in Chinese relating to the operation of the
		  restaurant, including payroll, names of workers, and food purchased. The Golden
		  Pheasant was a Chinese restaurant located in the Chinatown district of
		  Portland, Oregon. </abstract>

      <p>The Golden Pheasant was a Chinese restaurant located in the Chinatown
		  district of Portland, Oregon. It was popular with local dock workers.</p>

      <p>Nine (9) ledgers generated by the Golden Pheasant Cafe in Portland,
		  Or., a Chinese restaurant, circa 1930-1934. Ledgers contain brush-written
		  entries in Chinese relating to the operation of the restaurant, including
		  payroll, names of workers, and food purchased. Also includes: three (3) boxes
		  of envelopes possibly used at the Golden Pheasant Cafe (stamped envelopes
		  depict the four seasons in flowers); one (1) carved stone stamp of a Chinese
		  character, possibly jade, contained in one (1) silk-covered box (the character
		  was not used in the restaurant ledgers but is similar); one (1) lettering
		  brush, hair and wood, marked "Made in Beijing/Follows your heart and adjusts to
		  your hand," possibly used in restaurant ledgers; one (1) 7th grade monthly
		  report card of Ethel Hauskins from the Victory School, circa 1930s; four (4)
		  books of unused sales receipts, circa 1940s-1950s; three books (3) of unused
		  United States National Bank of Oregon Jacksonville Branch checking account
		  deposit slips for The Warehouse Store, circa 1970s; and one (1) book of money
		  receipts, circa 1979.</p>
