The Special Education Technology Center (SETC) of Washington state is a statewide special-needs project funded through the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction. The SETC serves all public school districts in the state of Washington with the mission of improving the educational experience of students with disabilities through the effective implementation of assistive technology. The Special Education Technology Center at Central Washington University was established in 1991 after the Americans with Disabilities Act came into effect earlier that same year.

This collection includes newsletters titled SETC Focus (1993-1999) and Lending Library Catalog (1992-1993), as well as promotional and educational ephemera and photographs.

Central Washington University began as the Washington State Normal School in 1891. In 1937, the school was rechristened the Central Washington College of Education. In 1961, the school became Central Washington State College and, finally, in 1977, Central Washington University.
