      <head>Historical Note</head>
      <p>Cresent City in northern California is located near the Oregon border on the edge of California's redwood forests and near the Smith River. During the early part of the twentieth century 
				this area had thriving mining and forestry industries. This small set of photographs by an unidentified photographer document logging and mining in the Cresent City region around 1910.</p>
