In the spring of 1925, Congress amended the National Defense Act to include the initiation of the Military Reserve Officers Training Corps and subsequently, the Naval ROTC. In 1926 the NROTC program was created on the UW campus. Since that time, the Husky Battalion has been preparing Midshipmen for United States Naval service. Today, the mission of the Battalion is to develop Midshipmen and Officer Candidatesfor the Navy and the Marine Corps.
