            <head>Biographical note</head>
            <p>Calvin Bewster Coulter, Jr., (1915- ) was a Professor of History and Political Science at the University of Puget Sound from 1945 to 1980. Coulter earned a A.B. from Columbia University in 1938, and an A.M. and Ph.D. from Prtinceton University in 1942 and 1945. Before joining Puget Sound Coulter was an Assistant in History at the College of William and Mary, 1941-1943, and an Instructor at the University of Delaware in 1945.</p>
            <p>Coulter co-authored, 
                <title render="italic">The Pig War and other experience of William Peck: soldier 1858-1862</title>, and conducted research on Washington State Senator, Homer T. Bone.</p>
