			<p>Edgar W. Pope is a scholar, teacher, and musician. He received his MA in Biostatistics in 1987 and his PhD in Music in 2003, both from the University of Washington. He is currently a professor at Aichi Prefectural University (Japan) in the International Cultural Studies department.  His research and teaching focuses on exoticism and intercultural interaction in popular music. He has a particular interest in the popular music of prewar and wartime Japan.</p>
