Volume one contains extensive tax rolls and family names. Volume two provides examples of various advertisements, announcements, laws, ordinances, and reward posters. Volume three contains newspaper clippings, photographs, and sketches alphabetized by family names or location. Volume four is not indexed due to its poor condition. A prior partial index by Richard Moore, date unknown, of volumes 1 and 2 is also available.
A National Endowment for the Humanities funded preservation assessment describes these volumes as among the most significant and rarest in the Special Collections, describing the Lincolnshire folios as "unique, absolutely stellar examples of early nineteenth century English handbills and broadsides."

Volume one of the Lincolnshire folios consists of several book excerpts and maps concerning the history of Lincolnshire. Many of the materials are pre-1800 works. The oldest dated map is dated 1579. Many of the items are fragile and require special handling.
A local index of names. The pages appear to be from a registry of different cities or communities. The pages are numbered 469-472. Additional pages are not included.
The folio includes pages 245-282 of a more detailed index of family names in alphabetical order based on location. It also provides tax records for the families of Lincolnshire. The other pages not included.
An appendix concerning the Diocese of Lincolnshire including the people who donate to them, the parishes they preside over, and their jurisdictions.
The Valor Ecclesiasticus Tempore Regis Henrici Octavi. The text concerns King Henry the 8th and his religious valor. The folio includes pages 1-344 of this text.

A geographical map of the Diocese of St. Peter Burke which was previously Lincolnshire, and the Diocese of Lincolnshire under King Henry the 8th's rule, entitled "Pars Austral." Austral means "southern" in Latin. Dated 1821 and created by A. Arrowsmith.

"Britannia or a chorographical Description of Great Britain and Ireland" by William Camden. This second edition, volume one is translated into English, with additions and improvements. The volume also includes three maps. One for Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, and Darbyshire. Each with sections describing their history and geography. Published in London, 1722.
The folio includes pages 265-266 from a book, written in Spanish, concerning the history of Lincolnshire. Includes a map of Lincolnshire noting heraldic shields.
The "Lincolnia Comitatus vulgo Lincolne-Shire." The text is in Latin and provides histories of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. A map of each is included. Pages 221-232 are present. The initial page has a handwritten date of 1660.
"A Map of Lincolnshire, from the Best Authorities." J. Cary engraved the color map published in 1805.
Pages 331-393 of an unknown book. The included section is titled "Lincolnshire." The text consists of a description and history of the area, including additions to Lincolnshire and etchings of forged weapons, gates and walls, and the Lincoln Cathedral. The text also contains a list of rare plants found in Lincolnshire.
A single sheet, page 217-218, from a book possibly entitled "England." The text includes descriptions of Rutlandshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, and Derbyshire.

A map titled "The continuation of the Road from London to Flambrugh" by John Ogilby, Esq. "Flambrugh" refers to modern-day Flamborough.
A broadside advertisement titled the "Large English Atlas: a New Set of All the Counties of England and Wales," by Emanuel Bowen, geographer to His Majesty, Thomas Kitchen, and Others. The atlas is printed and sold by T. Bowles of London. The maps advertised are not included. The active periods of the named geographers are Emanual Bowen (1694-1767), and Thomas Kitchen (1718-1784).
The title and contents page of the atlas "The Shires of England and Wales." Christopher Saxton describes the atlas as "Being the Best and original maps with many additions and corrections." Philip Lea of Cheapside sells the atlas. Philip Lea was active between 1683 and 1700. The page contains large illustrations, but the listed maps are not included.
Selected pages from "Britannia Depicta or Ogilby Improv'd." The title page claims to show all direct and principal cross roads in England and Wales and includes all towns, villages, and churches around these crossroads. Some pages include maps. The descriptions note all the cites, borough-towns, towns-corporate, and arms. The book lists Emanual Bowen as the engraver and Thomas Bowles as the printer. The item measures approximately 5 x 8 inches.
A map titled "Lincolneshire and Nottinghameshire." A guide of the coats of arms of nobility is also included, as well as a list of religious groups.
"The Theatre of the Empire of Great Britaine" by John Speed describes the geography cities of England, Scotland, and Ireland. The book includes the following maps of England. "Britain as it was divided in the time of the English Saxons especially during their Heptarchy," and "The Invasions of England and Ireland with all their civil wars since the conquest." Two maps, "The Kingdom of England," and "The County and City of Lincoln with the arms of them that have been Earles thereof since the conquest" include a date of 1610.
Selected pages from a book titled "Britiania: or a Geographical Description of the Kingdoms of England, Scotland, and Ireland with the Isles and Territories thereto belonging." Included are a dedication to King Charles II, a preface to the reader, and an alphabetical table of the Benefactors to this work. A map titled "General map of the Isles of Great Britain," designed by Monsuier Sanson, geographer to the French King. Tho. Roycroft published the text "for the Undertaker, Richard Blome."
Selected pages from a book titled "Britiannia Illustrata." The engravings include one depicting Doddington in the county of Lincoln, and four depicting different views of Grimsthorp in the county of Lincoln. The text also includes a table noting the name of the Palace, the location, and who lives there. Printed for David Mortier at Erasmus's Head in the Strand, and Daniel Midwinter at Three Crowns in St. Paul's Church Yard.

The report includes the Lincoln School's budget, a copy of an address given, and a list of the names of the subscriptions and benefactors of the school.
The set of three broadsides were created to advertise the Lincoln races. The broadsides describe the stake, types of horses, and description of events for horseraces held in September 1821.

Also listed are the shows they are doing which include the Merchant of Venice, a comic song by Mr. T. Reeves, a Medley Dance by Mr. Wooldridge, and ending with Mr. and Mrs. White.
The broadside advertises a reward of 21 pounds for anyone providing information regarding a man who carved up a sheep, stole the body, and left the head, skin, pluck, and entrails in the field. The suspect took the sheep from John Goude Stevenson, Esq. of Skellingthrope. The reward was issued by order of Henry Williams Treasurer and Secretary.
The broadside advertises an auction by T. J. N. Brogden, for the sale of two lots of property to be sold at the Plough Inn in Nettleham on Saturday, the 2nd of December. The two lots include a Post Corn Wind Mill with two tenements and adjoining gardens, and a newly erected Dwelling-House and Butchers Shop with a yard.
The broadside seeks contracts for boys clothing by order of J. W. Danby, Clerk to the Board of Guardians. The articles of clothing listed are 100 fustian jackets, 50 pairs of men's braces, 560 pairs of fustian trousers, and 50 pairs of boys ditto. There will be a payment made to those that make a delivery.
The broadside advertises an auction by Mr. Briggs regarding several lots of Oak and Scotch Fir timber to be sold at the Buffalo's Head on Thursday, December 14. The lots listed are 63 lots of Oak timber, Ash and other Poles, and 33 lots of Scotch and Spruce-Fir.
The broadside requests various provisions including food and hygiene products that will be supplied for three months by order of J. W. Danby, Clerk to the Board of Guardians. There was payment for those who provided, at the end of the quarter.
The broadside seeks contracts for flour and bread to be delivered to different places, the parishes in the South District and the North District and created by order of J. W. Danby. Those that contributed the flour or bread got paid every fortnight.
The auction notice advertises the sale of forty cart horses by Messrs. Lucas and Co. on Friday, the 22nd of December in the High Street near the Queens Hotel. Also included on the notice are the conditions of sale and a list of the horses with their names, color, and height.
The broadside announces a three guineas reward for anyone providing information regarding a muscovy duck and drake stolen from Mr. Thomas Graves, ordered by Henry Williams Treasurer and Secretary.
The broadside advertises a musical festival conducted by Mr. W. Mason. The music festival takes place on December 28th. The principal vocalists listed include Miss H. Corsnette, Miss Bayliss, Mr. William Mason, Mr. Lumley, Mr. J. Martin, Mr. Corburne, Mr. W.H. Poole, and Mr. S. Cargill.
The broadside appeals to the public by the Committee of the Lincoln and Lincolnshire Penitent Females' Home seeking additional support for their organization.
The complaint notice announces a complaint to the Committee of Guardians for the Lincoln Union. The document appears to be a template as specific information regarding any charge is absent. The notice references the Nuisances Removal and Diseases Prevention Act of 1848.
The notice to the working classes encourages participation in a meeting to discuss the cleansing and purifying of houses utilizing underground sewers. The meeting took place at the Corn Exchange on January 24th, 1849.
The broadside announces a reward of 26 guineas for information a stolen sheep belonging to Mr. Thomas Winn. Mr. Thomas Winn offers the reward.
The advertisement for upcoming shows at the Theatre Royal, Lincoln. The featured play, Wonga of the Branded Hand will star Mr. A. Abel and his two highly trained Mount St. Bernard Dogs. The play describes the characters of Wonga of the Branded Hand as the grateful savage, and the Shawnee Chief Black Vulture as the Native American villain. The broadside describes the play as "Robert and Edith Happy -- The white men triumphant, and Black Vulture's death by the dog."
The large broadside details the play through several storyboard style illustrations. The advertisement promotes the first appearance of Mr. A. Abel and his two highly trained St Bernard Dogs, Hector, and Wallace, in a show called Wonga of the Branded Hand, also known as The Dogs of the Forest Log House.

The broadside advertises an auction of various household items including furniture, kitchen and bedroom items, and a pleasure boat that will be sold by Mr. T. J. N. Brogden on Tuesday, January 9th at the Temperance House, in St. Benedicts Lane. The furniture belongs to Mr. William Smith who is selling it because he is leaving Lincoln. Also included is a description of the rooms and the furniture in them as well as the other items which are up for auction.
The broadside advertises the auction a newly erected messuage, a dwelling house, to be sold at Harrows' Public House in North Hykeham on Thursday the 18th. Dudding and Danby, Solicitors, present the notice.

The auction notice lists furniture, stock in trade, shop fixtures, and other effects to be sold on the premises in the Bail of Lincoln, occupied by Mr. Fitchett, Baker, on Tuesday, January 23rd. The notice describes various items relevant to bakers, confectioners, and general tradesmen.
The auction notice advertises the sale of Eight Freehold Tenements and a Butcher's Shop by Mr. T. J. N. Brogden at the Axe and Cleaver Inn, Duston, on Thursday, February 8th.
The Theatre Royal advertisement highlight is the appearance of the celebrated actor, African Roscius, known for his roles as Othello, Cambia, the Mummy, and Mungo. The advertisement also lists the performances of Thursday, January 25th, featuring Bertram or the Sicilian Pirate.
The broadside advertises evening concerts performed by Mr. Watson, the celebrated Scotch Artist from Edinburgh, and Sole Constructor of the Scientifically Improved Instruments. There is also a description of what Mr. Watson will be performing and the instruments he will be playing.
The Theatre Royal Lincoln advertisement lists the performances for Monday, January 29th, featuring Lovers of Bourbon or the siege of the Bastille and Revolution of 1793. Also highlights the last night to see the actor, African Roscius.
