tenures of past deans responsible for administering the Law School at the
University of Washington, Seattle
The University of Washington established the Department of Law in 1899
with John T. Condon serving as Dean and the only full-time professor. During
Condon's tenure, which lasted until 1926, the School was accredited by the
American Bar Association in 1924 and became a member of the Association of
American Law Schools in 1909. In 1936, Professor Judson Falknor, a 1919
graduate of the UW Law School, was appointed to serve as Dean and he served
until 1951. Subsequent tenures have been held by Lehan Tunks (1963-1968),
Richard Roddis (1970-1978), John R. Price (1982-1989), Wallace D. Loh
(1990-1995), Roland Hjorth (1995-2001), W.H. Knight, Jr. (2001-2009), and
Kellye Testy (2009-).
