      <head>Biographical Note</head>
      <p>Fred L. Wolf published the <title>Newport Miner</title> newspaper in Newport, Pend Oreille
        County, WA, 1908-1945. In 1911 he succeeded in getting legislation passed that created Pend
        Oreille County out of a portion of Stevens County. Wolf successfully lobbied for the
        construction of the Pend Oreille River bridge near Newport, WA, 1927, and the Albeni Falls
        dam on the Pend Oreille River, 1955.</p>

        the Albeni Falls dam, and includes correspondence, 1925-1927, 1948-1957; printed material;
