			<p>Dr. Harry E. McAllister (1916-2002) served as a Professor of Economics and Business
				Administration at Washington State University from 1949 to 1982. McAllister was born
				in Seattle, Washington, and graduated from Cashmere High School, Cashmere,
				Washington, in 1934. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education at Eastern
				Washington State College in 1941, and a Master of Arts degree in Economics from the
				Washington State College in 1943. After serving in World War II, McAllister returned
				to the WSC as an economics instructor. In 1945, he served briefly on the
				congressional Post War Economic Policy and Planning Committee. He earned a Ph.D. in
				Economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1950 and continued as a
				Professor at WSC until his retirement in 1982. From 1964 to 1968, he was chair of
				the Department of Business Administration. (See Cage 613)</p>

			<p>This collection consists of professional papers of Dr. Harry E. McAllister, many of
				which resulting from his capacity as Chair of the Department of Business
				Administration. It includes papers concerning: WSU policies on faculty retirement,
				the National Bureau of Economic Research, the United States Department of Labor, the
				American Association of University Professors, as well as tax studies, city
				recreation, and newspaper clippings concerning the Pullman City Council. The
				collection also contains Dr. McAllister's incoming and outgoing correspondence with
				federal agencies, WSU faculty, other universities, and various organizations.</p>
