Student clubs, called Registered Student Organizations (RSO), require at least four people to become an official RSO at the Evergreen State College. They can be anything from a political-aligned group to a hobby group and can be based off of a student's academic interests, as well. TESC has had more than 70 RSOs at one time, with clubs coming and going as members graduate. The GReener Anime Society (formerly known as the Giant Robot Appreciation Society) is one of TESC's longest-running student clubs. GRAS runs the annual Chibi Chibi Conference which began in 2001, after GeoCon (a tabletop gaming convention which had an anime element) collapsed. Chibi Chibi Con 2018 had over 4,000 attendees and 2019 had around 4,500. Common Bread was a Christian student organization committed to the Christian faith, study, service, and social justice. The Evergreen Environmental Resource Center (ERC) is a student club dedicated to educating and informing the Evergreen State College students and Olympia community about environmental issues, on the local and global scale. The ERC was initially created as an umbrella group to bring together a variety of environmental clubs on campus (including the Sierra Club, Crabshell, Greenpeace, and the Olympia Wilderness Coalition). In 1979, the club transitioned towards becoming a recourse and educational center that would raise awareness about environmental issues. Evergreen Political Information Center (EPIC) is a student organization dedicated to activism that is both educational and action-oriented. EPIC has engaged with issues ranging from local to global and presents speakers from around the world, raises awareness for causes, and coordinates grass-roots organizing. The Evergreen Hillel was formerly known as the Jewish Cultural Center (JCC). It was a student run organization that was dedicated to providing The Evergreen community a place to explore all aspects of Judaism. The Evergreen Queer Alliance (EQA) was founded in 1973 and was committed to providing a safe space for all members of the LGBT community at the Evergreen State College. Innerplace was a student organization pertaining to spiritual life and community. They were of varying faiths, including Christian, Meher Baba, I Ching, and Transcendental Meditation. Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (MECHA) was a student organization on various college campuses throughout the US. Its intent was to celebrate the language culture, and social movement of the Chicano people. Evergreen's chapter consisted of the Chicano students on the Evergreen campus. They presented programs (including bringing in speakers, showing films, and having music) to do with Chicano culture. The 1975 Yakima Protest was organized in response to the shooting of Jack Rodriguez by a police officer. Chicano students from the school were alleged to have chartered a school vehicle to join the protest, although investigation by the school showed that they were actually in Yakima for a conference. The Peace and Conflict Resolution Center at the Evergreen State College was a student run organization concerned with highlighting peaceful alternatives to violence. The Washington Public Interest Research group (WashPIRG) is a student organization dedicated to activism. It was started in the early 1980s. They have worked on environmental projects as well as issues to do with homelessness and hunger.
