		  in Mineral, Washington</abstract></did><bioghist encodinganalog="5450_" id="a2"><p>The Richards Studio was the foremost commercial photographic studio in
		  Tacoma, Washington for over 35 years. The studio's photographers documented the
		  Tacoma community's weddings, funerals, parades, business growth, and school
		  activities over three decades. Richards Studio was the official studio for the
		  Douglas Fir Plywood Association, the Cheney Lumber Company, and the Tacoma
		  Athletic Commission. Many of the studio's photos appeared daily in the 
		  <emph render="italic"> Tacoma Times </emph> newspaper. </p></bioghist><odd type="hist"><p>Founded in 1899, St. Regis was a large international paper company.
		  St. Regis produced 360,000 tons of kraft paper per year. Paper production began
		  in Tacoma on January 5, 1949. St. Regis initially purchased a pulp mill in
		  Tacoma in 1939 and spent years updating the mill into a kraft paper facility.
		  Before 1949, St. Regis only manufactured pulp and multiwall bags at the Tacoma
		  plant. By 1985, the mill had become the Simpson Tacoma Kraft Company, when it
		  was puchased by the Simpson Paper Company of San Francisco. </p></odd><scopecontent encodinganalog="5202_" id="a3"><p>Photographs of the St. Regis Paper Company mill in Tacoma, Washington
		  and logging operations at Camp #2 in Mineral, Washington. The photos depict the
		  landscape, as well as workers performing various logging operations, a variety
		  of machinery, such as highline yarders and spar trees, and images of
