Administrative records of the Center
The Fertility and Endocrine Center was established in 1984 with the creation of the Assisted Reproductive Technologies program. The Center consisted of a team of physicians, nurses, laboratory scientists, medical technologists, and counselors who cared for the medical and psychosocial needs of infertile couples and to treated women with endocrine problems. The endocrine disease specialists helped women, ranging in age from pre-teenagers to the elderly, with hormone disorders. The physicians who practiced at the FEC were fulltime faculty members in the UW School of Medicine and board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology. The Center was located at UW Medical Center-Roosevelt and closed on September 24, 2004, following the decision by the four medical school faculty members to enter private practice.
