Frank Jay Haynes (1853-1921) played a role in documenting the early settlement of Northwstern United States through photography. He was the official photographer for Northern Pacific Railway and Yellowstone National Park.

The collection consists of fourteen images, two of the Grand Canyon and twelve of Yellowstone.
