			<p>Philip Gollnick (1934-1991) earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of
				Wisconsin, and his M.S. in Physical Education (1960) and Ph.D. in Physical Education
				and Biochemistry/Physiology (1963) from Washington State University. He began
				teaching as an assistant professor in the Physical Education department in 1963, and
				moved to the Department of Veterinary and Comparative Anatomy, Physiology, and
				Pharmacology in 1984, attaining the rank of professor. He was internationally
				recognized for his work in skeletal muscle metabolism and its regulation, and did
				research on the muscles of the astronauts who flew on the space shuttle Columbia. He
				died of a heart attack at 56 in 1991.</p>

				and reprints, conference and travel files, subject files, and a small number of
