      <p>Margaret McNeil Ballard was born on 14 April 1846 to Thomas and Jeanette Reid McNeil in Tranent, Heddingtonshire, Scotland. As members of the LDS Church, her parents moved the family from Scotland to Utah around 1858. Margaret married Henry Ballard in 1861. She spent her life raising her children and serving in the LDS Church. She died in 1918.</p>
